Debbie has been with Moorside Training for nine years. She has a total of 16 years’ teaching experience, including at Keighley College. She has taught all levels of ICT skills to a wide variety of age groups and taught on qualification courses such as OCR/RSA Text Processing (Business Professional) and CLAiT courses.

The course

Our “Advanced Word – Tables & Charts” training workshop, which is offered in association with Moorside Training, is a practical session giving you the opportunity to develop your skills to maximise the use of more advanced Word operations.

Is it for you?

The course is aimed at people who have a good working knowledge of Word.  You may be employed, or be looking for work, and need to improve and extend your Microsoft Word skills.  Anyone who is going to be using Word at home is also welcome.

What to expect

The workshop will aim to provide you with practical experience of creating documents with tables, diagrams or charts of information, and maximising the tools Word has available.

  • Creating tables with multiple rows and columns
  • Splitting and merging cells, headings, columns etc to create a more complex design
  • Sorting data in a table
  • Converting text into a table
  • Using Word’s “Illustration” tools to create graphs, charts, organization charts and diagrams
  • Importing or copying objects from other sources (eg pictures, graphs from Excel, other Word files) and adjusting the presentation within your document
  • Creating and using Text Boxes
  • Inserting arrows, lines and other shapes
  • Utilising toolbars and shortcuts

The outcome

After the session you will be able to:-

  • Use Word to display and present data and information in a number of different ways – tabular form; charts, graphs and diagrams; text boxes with lines and arrows
  • Import and copy objects from other sources and display effectively
  • Make use of toolbars
